Bisciotti, the Ravens’ president, Sashi Brown and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome, have been tasked with finding their next coach.
Bisciotti has made it clear that he does not mind hiring someone for their second head coach gig, rather than going with a high-profile coordinator.
“Unlike 18-years ago, I’m very interested in coaches who were the hottest defensive and offensive coordinators five, six, or seven years ago and got jobs. They went to noncompetitive teams and didn’t even have a quarterback. And they grinded for three or four year, and are caught up in the cycles of many of my partner,” Bisciotti stated.
The Ravens have confirmed or reported some interviews with coaches that didn’t hold long-term tenures as head coaches. These include Brian Flores (who was the first to be interviewed), Kliff Kingbury, Matt Nagy and Vance Joseph.
Bisciotti stated, “I could disqualify coaches with losing records. But you must remember that these coaches were the most popular in their respective cycles and had tough jobs. I don’t believe we have a difficult job.” “I believe that we have created the best opportunity in this cycle.”
Bisciotti stated that he does not have a preference for whether the new coach is offensively or defensively minded
Bisciotti expected Jackson to be part of the final stages in the hiring process. He offered to fly his jet to Florida to pick up the quarterback and bring him to Baltimore.
Bisciotti is the one who makes the decision.
Bisciotti stated, “[He] will have] much to say but no power.” “I am the one with the power.”
