Tyler Huntley is added to the Ravens 53-man roster

Tyler Huntley no longer serves as the Ravens practice squad quarterback

Huntley was signed to the Ravens 53-man roster. He will start against the Chicago Bears on Sunday if Lamar Jackson is unable to play due a hamstring injury.

John Harbaugh gave Huntley the go-ahead after he ignited the Ravens’ offense in the fourth period of Baltimore’s loss to the Rams in Week 6. Huntley, who took over for Cooper Rush in Week 6, completed 10 of 15 pass attempts for 68 yard and ran for 23 more yards.

Jackson, who hadn’t played for nearly a week, was able to practice fully on Friday, after two limited sessions. Head Coach John Harbaugh stated, “We’ll see how we do going forward.”

Huntley, in his sixth NFL season has played 14 games. He filled in for an ill Jackson in 2021, when the Ravens faced the Bears in their last game, and led Baltimore to a 16-13 win.

Huntley told reporters on Friday that he always prepared to begin. “I prepare for it as I would every week. I study and draw out the plays and watch film, and do everything else I need to to be ready, just like I do every single week.”

After releasing Zaire Mitchell Paden, the Ravens now had a spot open on their 53-man squad. He was filling in for Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard’s (calf), who was injured for six of his first seven games. The New Orleans Saints claimed Mitchell-Paden off waivers on Friday. Ricard will make his debut on Sunday.
