Teddye Buchanan, a rookie Baltimore Ravens linebacker, is thought to have torn his ACL during Sunday’s victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Buchanan was carted to the locker rooms after he fell in the first quarter. Giana Hans of The Baltimore Banner confirmed the initial suspicion that Buchanan had torn his ACL pending an MRI. John Harbaugh, the head coach, said in his post-game presser that Buchanan’s situation didn’t seem good. ESPN Adam Schefter confirmed Han’s report this morning. Harbaugh is scheduled to speak with the media at 2:30 pm. ET, and we may have an updated then.
Buchanan is the Ravens second-leading tackler. He has played in 13 of their 14 games so far this season. The fourth-rounder pushed Trenton Simpson all summer for the starting position next to Roquan. He took over Week 2 following a strong NFL debut.
Buchanan, like most rookie linebackers in the NFL, had some early bumps, but has since grown into a strong run defender, and shown improvements in his coverage. Buchanan wore the green dots during Smith’s absence of two weeks in October. This showed that the coaching staff had confidence in Buchanan’s abilities.
