Roundtable Reactions – Ravens still in the game after Steelers loss to Browns during Week 17.

On Sunday, the Ravens got the support they needed from the Cleveland Browns who defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 13-6. The Ravens and Steelers will be battling for the divisional title next week, as they are only one game apart in the standings. The Baltimore Beatdown staff reacts to the Browns victory and the turn of events that occurred for the Ravens.

LIFE! AIR! HOPE! All of this is meaningless after months of turmoil and the Ravens’ most disappointing season ever. Win the Steelers in Week 18. What could be better at the end than the chance to play in the playoffs? The Ravens now have to win one game and do their job. This hasn’t really been an issue this season, has it? — Zach Canter

Exhale. Perfect timing. It was the most agonizing game I have ever watched, but also the most rewarding. The Browns’ defense is incredible. A gutsy, courageous performance gives the NFL fans the Week 18 matchup they hoped for.

Immediately, health concerns come to mind. Will Snoop or Lamar Jackson be back? All is on the line. Next week, the Ravens can, despite the odds, win the AFC North and send the Steelers packing. They could also give Mike Tomlin a first-ever losing season. The whole world will be watching. Which Ravens team will be there? — Mark Myers

It may not be fair that another team saves the Ravens’ season, but I would gladly accept it. I believe that the Ravens can still make a strong run in the AFC if Lamar Jackson is able to return before the playoffs. The Ravens still need to beat the Steelers in the next game before they can make the playoffs. Pittsburgh had Baltimore’s number last season except for two games. I am therefore not confident going into next week. Derrick Henry should be the Ravens’ main focus, even if Jackson is able to return to the field. His performance against the Packers was outstanding. — Dustin Cox

We were bound to end up here. In Pittsburgh on Week 18, the division and much more are at stake. The Ravens are in a bad situation. The Ravens don’t deserve a shot at the playoffs and, technically, even a Super Bowl Ring, however impossible that may seem. They do. The Ravens can win the next week based on the way the Steelers performed today. One could argue that a playoff spot would be bad for a franchise in the long term. Next week, you’ll have a hard time convincing the players and coaches of that. They still think they’re in the race. The Browns are to thank. — Nikhil Mehta

The Ravens and Steelers were the two teams that seemed to be the most likely to win the AFC North. The Ravens were in a downward spiral and had fallen behind eight balls over the past few weeks, while the Steelers won three straight games. We ended up with a win and in situation at the end. For most of the season, the Ravens have disappointed in crucial moments and failed to deliver. They played well when it was needed in Week 17, and now have the chance to repeat the dominant rushing performance against the Packers. In the days to come, Lamar Jackson’s health will be an important factor. The showdown between the two coaches for the divisional title will be another chapter in their storied rivalry. Both could potentially lose their jobs. — Frank Platko
