Ravens Snap Count, Week 4 Analysis: Injury Replacements Galore in Blowout Loss

The Ravens did not have a single offensive starter play 100% of the snaps due to injuries or the fact that it was a very high-scoring game in the second half. Ronnie Stanley, the only starter on the offensive line, played just 98% of the snaps. Stanley left the game after 16 plays in the first quarter due to an ankle injury. Joseph Noteboom, a veteran, replaced him for the rest of the day.

Lamar Jackson was also sidelined for the rest of the game due to a hamstring injury he sustained in the third-quarter. Cooper Rush took over the last 16 snaps of his quarterback duties after he played 38 snaps. Rashod bateman and Zay Flowers both played more than 40 snaps. The latter had his highest snap percentage of the season (80%). Flowers caught seven passes totaling 74 yards, while Bateman only had one reception of 24 yards.

Justice Hill surpassed Derrick Henry in the snapping department for a second consecutive game. This time, it was by a larger margin (32-21). Henry was dropped from the Ravens’ gameplan early, as they needed to catch up. Hill finished the game with 100+ scrimmage yardage and two touchdowns.

Isaiah Likely played 25 snaps, five less than Mark Andrews. Jackson did not target Likely, but Andrews was tied for the team lead in catches. Charlie Kolar’s snap count dropped to 14 (25%) as Likely returned to the mix. Zaire Mitchell Paden also saw his snaps drop to nine (9%).

In this game, snap counts were a bit random. Marlon Hushprey, Nate Wiggins and Roquan Smith were all forced to leave the game due to injury. The Ravens had already been without their defensive line trio, Kyle Van Noy, since the beginning. The only defenders who played the whole game were safeties Kyle Hamilton, and Malaki Starks.

Chidobe awuzie, the only remaining cornerback starter in the fourth quarter played the most snaps of his season (67), while Keystone Martin played the highest number of snaps in his career (39 snaps) as Humphrey’s replacement at the nickel position. Tavius Robinson and Mike Green led the edge rushers with Van Noy absent. Odafe Oweh’s snap count decreased to 33 (45%).

The top snappers on the defensive side were John Jenkins (44), Brent Urban (38) and Josh Tupou (30). C.J. Okoye, Aeneas and Peebles played 33 snaps together. This surprised many people who expected to see more of them. The Ravens chose to rely heavily on their experienced defensive lineman over the young ones.

Smith’s time at linebacker was cut short after a hamstring problem. Teddye Buchanan started opposite him once again and had a snap share of 73%. Trenton Simpson (37 snaps), and Jake Hummel (28) played expanded defensive roles after Smith left.
