According to an announcement from the team, on Saturday night, the Baltimore Ravens extended a contract with veteran long snapper Nick Moore for four years.
Moore, 33 years old, was signed by the Saints in 2019 as an undrafted, free agent from Georgia. Moore did not make it to the 53-man team and was sent to Baltimore in the offseason following. He was called upon by the Ravens once in that season as a replacement COVID for Morgan Cox who had retired at the end of that season. Moore was named the new long snapper in 2021. He has played in every game except for 2023, when he had to miss it due to an Achilles tear.
It’s not surprising that the Ravens have decided to sign Moore for four more years. The Ravens value continuity, particularly for their kicker battery. Moore is likely to be the one snapping for Jordan Stout’s punts, and Tyler Loop’s kicks, for many years.
Financial details have not yet been revealed. However, it is likely to include a veteran’s minimum salary for all four years and a small signing incentive. Moore’s signing bonus could be around $1 million. Morgan Cox, who signed a five-year contract with the Ravens, received a $700,000. Moore, with a year less, but a higher salary cap, would receive a bonus of about $700,000. The long snapper guarantee has increased in the past few years. Moore could have a base salary that is fully guaranteed for the first or second year of his contract extension.
