John Harbaugh, the Ravens’ Head Coach, announced on Monday that Nnamdi Madubuike will not be returning to the team this season.
Madubuike was placed on injured reserve before the Ravens lost 37-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs. There are now questions as to when or if he will return to play.
Harbaugh said he wasn’t allowed to say much when asked if Madubuike’s neck injury was career-threatening.
Harbaugh stated, “Many of those are things he should address with you in his own time.” “I can’t, and wouldn’t like to, speak for him. He would be the best person to answer those questions going forward.
Harbaugh stated that Madubuike could still get more information about the injury.
Harbaugh said Madubuike began to experience symptoms after Baltimore’s Week 2-win against the Cleveland Browns.
Baltimore’s already-injured defense is dealt a serious blow. Madubuike was the top defensive tackle in the NFL and the Ravens for 2023 with 13 sacks. He had two sacks already in the Ravens first two games.
The Ravens have signed Madubuike (27), to a reported four-year contract extension worth $98 million before the 2024 season.
Harbaugh confirmed that Broderick Washington Jr., a fellow defensive lineman (ankle), will be returning from the injured reserve after four weeks. This would be a great help to a defensive line that has three starters injured, and is now without their best player.
