It is not surprising that the NFL chose to schedule the de-facto Divisional Championship for Sunday Night Football during Week 18, the final game of the regular Season. This will be their third consecutive primetime game and seventh of the season. In their first six games, the Ravens were 2-4.
The atmosphere in Pittsburgh on Sunday evening will be intense. Heinz Field, now known as the inferior Acrisure Stadium, will be packed to the brim by rabid Steelers supporters waving Terrible Towels. The Ravens will be playing in the most difficult environment of the season.
This matchup is largely determined by who plays and doesn’t play, mainly on Pittsburgh’s side. D.K. Metcalf has been suspended for a second game. T.J. Watt is not playing since Week 14’s first Ravens-Steelers game due to a bizarre lung injury. Darnell Washington fractured his arm during Sunday’s Browns defeat.
Lamar Jackson is the Ravens biggest absentee. He missed the Ravens win over the Packers due to a back injury. Tyler Huntley could be Baltimore’s quarterback if he doesn’t practice. He didn’t even do any practices last week.
Sunday, January 4, 8:20 p.m. ET. The game will air on NBC/Peacock. ET. Check back next week to see all the Baltimore Beatdown analysis in the lead up to this matchup, and get involved in the conversation in the comments.
