News & Notes: Marlon Humphrey Gets Finger Pinned, Won’t Play vs. Browns

John Harbaugh, the Ravens’ head coach, announced that Marlon Humphrey will miss at least one match after a pin was inserted in his finger.

In his podcast “The Marlon Humphrey Show,” Humphrey related the story about how he dislocated a finger during a practice last Friday.

I was like, “Oh, my fingers are sideways.” Humphrey explained that he had done it in the play and so he just rearranged it. Then, when I was practicing, I thought, “Yo, it’s like my finger is clicking still.” The trainers are saying, “Oh, let’s do it,” and then they place it back into place, but it just won’t stay.

Humphrey stated that the medical staff of the team suggested they examine it in the medical area. Humphrey, however, told them he was eager to finish the practice.

Humphrey played Sunday’s Minnesota game with his left arm in a cast. It didn’t prevent him from making his season’s first interception.

Baltimore, without Humphrey could give more snaps to veteran cornerback Chidobe awuzie. Awuzie is coming off of one of his most impressive games of the year in Minnesota. Humphrey is now playing outside as Kyle Hamilton plays more in the slot.

Awuzie started the Ravens first four games and played in 60% of those snaps.

Harbaugh stated that “‘Chido” has been doing well. “He has been playing well and is a really really good footballer. You can see that he knows how to play. “I’m glad to have him on our team.”

The Ravens may also rely more on Keyon Martin as a slot cornerback. He is just one of the many rookies that have benefited by getting a lot of playing time in this season, when Baltimore suffered terribly.

The Ravens undrafted rookie played seventy percent of defensive snaps and recorded five tackles in the Ravens Week 5 match against the Texans. Martin made three tackles in Minnesota on the Ravens final defensive series, replacing Humphrey.

Harbaugh stated that “everything he has done, he has done very well.” He had the chance to start one or two games there. I thought it was a good learning experience for him. He was making plays. “It looks like he’ll get a chance to do something in this game.
