Baltimore Ravens week 13 update: Injury, quotes, statistical notes

The Baltimore Ravens were defeated by the Cincinnati Bengals in a 32-14 score on Thursday night. Here are the most recent updates from Week 13:

Injury Updates

On Sunday, the Ravens suffered two significant injuries. John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Ravens, said that cornerback Nate Wiggins had a “not serious” foot injury. Baltimore’s secondary would suffer a significant blow if the first-round 2024 pick were to miss any games. In 2025, after a strong rookie season, he had a breakthrough campaign with 47 tackles. He also recorded three interceptions, 2 tackles for losses, and 9 passes defended. Wiggins’ first three numbers represent career highs. He should be able to surpass his 13 passes defensed from last year.

The Ravens are left with a few options in the absence of Wiggins. The Ravens have shifted Kyle Hamilton to a hybrid star/nickel position since the bye-week. Marlon Hushprey has been moved to the outside of the Ravens nickel and base packages. He still plays the slot for dime looks. He could now line up at the boundary with KeyonMartin filling in his nickel snaps. Baltimore could also keep Humphrey as a hybrid corner and have T.J. Tampa, a second-year corner, serve as No. In nickel and dime looks, the third cornerback is a good option.

Chandler Martin is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He was promoted from the practice team for the last 3 weeks to replace Jay Higgins who has been on injured reserve since his Week 9 knee injury.

Sanoussi Kane, a second-year safety, is the most obvious replacement for Martin on special teams. In the Ravens first six games of this season, he played 140 special teams snaps after having played 325 ST snaps in his rookie year. Kane has been waived, re-signed and promoted to the Ravens’ practice squad.

John Harbaugh’s comments on Lamar Jackson, QB: “Lamar Jackson is great.” I don’t have any complaints. He is our man, and I trust him completely. Football is an integral part of our lives. Sometimes bad things can happen. Not long ago we were 1-5. We’ve learned to grow and learn. We’re 6-6. We’ll be fine. “We just have to keep on fighting, keeping clawing, staying humble and being grateful. I’m thankful for him.”

John Harbaugh’s response to the Ravens five turnovers. “Those things are controllable.” That’s what I like about it. “We’ll focus on ourselves and take care of the ball. Good things will happen.”

Jackson, on his turnovers : “I only have to play consistently.” I cannot have any turnovers in any match – this or any other game. Two fumbles, and then the interception. We must be consistent. We put our defense out on the field way too much. “I can’t allow that.”

Jackson’s thoughts on consistency: Just be yourself, be Lamar. That’s all.”

CB Chidobe Wiggins on leaving the game “It hurts.” Nate is a guy who brings energy. We all rally around him, especially once he gets going. We’ll be praying for his speedy recovery because he can certainly turn up the team. “Hopefully, it is not serious and he will be back on the pitch soon.”

S Kyle Hamilton comments on Jackson’s struggles with the Bengals. “It was one of those bad days, and defenses had many of them early in the season.” We’re not pointing fingers at anyone, not at Lamar or at the O-line. We are all one big family. We must be able to cope with both the lows as well as the highs.

Hamilton’s thoughts on Jackson’s performances in practice and games: He is always on point and in time in practice. But sometimes, it doesn’t work out that way in games. He’s a great competitor and one of the best. “LeBron [James] can have a bad night. He’s a two-time MVP, after all.”

Hamilton’s thoughts on the Ravens Week 14 game against the Steelers. “Objectively, there is a lot riding on this match-up and every other game from now on, including this game. The Steelers will remember your December performance, so it’s time to get ready for December. I believe we can pull off a huge December. We have the right mentality. “It’s only a matter of getting started.”

WR DeAndre HOpkins on the struggles of the offense: “I run the routes that I’m told to run. I can’t really get into the details of what we missed tonight. But I know that when you lose turnover margins like we did, your chances are not good. This Bengals team took advantage of it.”

Hopkins’ 1,000th career reception “It means a great deal.” To me, 1,000 catches means reliability. You can rely on your quarterback. It says a lot about my upbringing that I’ve been able to do it with so many quarterbacks. “Being a patient, hard-working person.”

In the weeks leading up to his first NFL match, he had conversations with the coaches: “Honestly [I] was just trying to concentrate on the process. Coach ‘Harbs,’ [head coaching John Harbugh] has us following a strict procedure and they are doing their best to keep our focus. There is a lot going on outside, especially with how this season started, and I am just trying to get out there with my teammates. It’s hardly talked about. They didn’t say, “Oh, you are playing this week” and other stuff like that. “I’m preparing for every game as if it’s going to happen.”

Ronnie Stanley, Ravens OT, on the Ravens run game: I thought the Ravens run game got going, especially in the early stages. Derrick got going and scored a touchdown in the first few minutes. “I think we need to keep going and maintain the momentum. We have to make this work.”

Stanley’s response to players who suggest offensive plays: Yes, the collaborative part is definitely a part. We encourage coaches to return to running when they come back on the sideline. We’ll still run the play that is called.”

Emery Jones talks about his NFL debut. It felt great to be out there and demonstrate what I could do, show my talent, [and] help the team in a small way…Honestly, I am just grateful for the chance. It’s taken a lot to get there, it took a long time to be healthy and I’m happy to have the chance to help my teammates.

Statistic Notes

  • DeAndre Hopkins, a wide receiver, made his 1,000th career catch (and 10001st in total) on Sunday. Davante Adam, who has 48 receptions to Hopkins’ 17, is the active player with the most.

  • Emery Jones, a rookie offensive lineman, made his NFL debut Thursday by playing 16 snaps as a left guard. In nine pass-blocking chances, he did not allow any pressure. However, he committed a hold penalty in the late third quarter. In the upcoming weeks, he could be given more rotation time for Andrew Vorhees.
