The league’s final game was the most dramatic. Baltimore’s ticket to the postseason was snatched away by a 26-24 defeat after Tyler Loop’s missed field goal. Here is the final Good, Bad, and Ugly for the 2025 football season.
Lamar Jackson : Wow! Jackson’s best performance was since his injury recovery. After weeks of the outside media and some local media questioning whether Jackson could still be considered a franchise quarterback. The two-time MVP showed that even though his legs weren’t up to par, he could still win with his arm. He completed 11/18 passes for 238 yards, three touchdowns, and a rating of 121.5. It should have been even higher. Jackson’s targets were dropped by the Ravens, and he was also contested at the line of scrimmage on a number passes. The only interception came from a ball that was somehow tipped and pinballed before landing in the arms of a defender. Jackson led several game-winning drives during the fourth quarter. It is clear that he has the ability to play and should stay in Baltimore for as long as he can. I think that his legs will also return after a resting offseason.
Zay Flowers :This performance was as close to a post-season performance as we have seen since Flowers’ disastrous rookie year fumble, which he made against the Chiefs. He delivered against Pittsburgh. Flowers had four catches, 138 yards, and two huge touchdowns in the fourth quarter. He was reliable and did not do much after the catch. Most importantly, he held on to the ball. When Flowers becomes eligible for a Ravens contract extension this offseason, it will be interesting to watch.
Derrick HenryThe King was just short of winning the 2025 rushing title, with 126 yards from 20 carries. He had several explosive runs in the 1st quarter which put the Ravens on top early. Unfortunately, in the fourth-quarter, the Ravens forgot about Henry, despite the fact that the Ravens’ negative game script, and explosive passes, limited their opportunities to use Henry to win the game.
Devontez Walker : Walker maintains his efficiency. He had two catches and two targets. There was also a touchdown. In his career, he has now scored four touchdowns with seven catches. In man coverage, he easily escaped Jalen Ramsey for his touchdown on Sunday. He looks like a future downfield weapon in 2026. Walker’s participation could be explosive next year, with questions about the future of the team.
Kyle Hamilton :Hamilton was the leader of the team for tackles against Pittsburgh despite missing the majority of the second halves. Hamilton was a threat to an offensive system that relied solely on yards after the catch and underneath stuff. The Ravens defense collapsed without him and could not contain Jaylen Gainwell and Kenneth Warren. After Hamilton left, the unit’s yardage per play went up from 3.9 to 6.9 after his departure. Hamilton, in other words was the one who held this defense together.
Isaiah Likely Likely probably made the biggest catch in his career against Pittsburgh and it will be his final as a Raven. He made a spectacular catch in traffic on a fourth down that was a game-winner. It will be difficult to watch Likely become a top five tight end on a new squad.
Offensive Line: Their biggest concern at the start of the season could be the reason for their failure on Sunday. Derrick Henry racked up over 100 yards during the first half, but the running game sputtered in the second. This was due to a lackluster effort in the second half compared to what they did in the first. Lamar Jackson also was under constant pressure, as witnessed by the first Zay Flower touchdown. This came after two rushers sat untouched between Jackson and the other rushers, allowing Jackson to escape. This was the weakest part of the team throughout the season.
The Defense: After Kyle Hamilton left the field, it fell apart. It is unfair to criticize the entire unit, except for Hamilton. There were many positives to take away from the first half. The team only allowed one field-goal in the first half, and they had several fourth-down stops including the amazing play at the end of the half. Early on, the defensive backs were particularly good. They had many pass breaks and tight coverage. It all went downhill from there. No matter how well the team played in the early part of their game, it can’t compensate for how awful and inept they are late. The offense was missing D.K. and they only managed to force one punt in the second half. Metcalf, Darnell Washington. Just pitiful.
Pass Rush: The second weakest part of the team. The Ravens did not pressure Aaron Rodgers in the second matchup against the Steelers. The Ravens did manage two sacks but their rush was not consistent enough to have a real impact on the game. Pro Football Focus reports that Baltimore totaled only nine pressures on Rodgers 50 dropbacks. Pass rush is a major issue that needs to be addressed for the upcoming season. If you cannot win with four, then you will not be able to compete in the playoffs. *cough* Brian Flores.
That kick : A Ravens season is not complete without heartbreak. The Ravens, despite their year-long struggles, had the chance to win their division and go to the playoffs with two seconds remaining in the NFL season. The rookie kicker Tyler Loop, however, missed the 44 yarder wide right. This was a bad kick as soon as his foot touched the ball.
The tackle: This is simply disgusting. Going into this game, it was known that D.K. Metcalf and the Steelers’ running backs would be their primary focus on both the ground as well as in the air. The attack would be primarily based on short yardage passes and not much deep running. The Ravens struggled to complete plays and missed tackles throughout the night. Five tackles were missed on run plays and seven on pass plays. 195 of the 294 yards the Steelers gained after the catch came from the Ravens. This was a truly pathetic performance, and it was against an offense that had been deemed inept before the game.
The coaching staff: This Sunday’s match was the final nail. The coaching staff is ultimately responsible for the season’s failure. Nnamdi’s injury did set back the defense, but it is also bad for your franchise quarterback to miss time. Madubuike was injured so early that there was plenty of time for the Ravens to adjust and regroup. They went 2-2 with Lamar Jackson as their starting quarterback. It was obvious that the team wasn’t living up to its potential. Pass rush was a major reason for the offense’s inconsistency and lack of rhythm. The defense lacked teeth and pass rush. It’s time to move forward
