Baltimore Ravens snap count analysis, Week 17 – Heavy personnel dominates the Ravens’ run

Tyler Huntley started at quarterback in the absence of Lamar Jackson and played all 76 offensive snappes. Two of the five offensive linemen who started also played the full 76 snaps, while the other three — Ronnie Stanley Tyler Linderbaum and Andrew Vorhees — played the entire 76 snaps. Huntley had a passer rating of 105.6 and an 80% completion rate. He accounted for 167 yard and a touchdown.

The Ravens tight ends had a heavy workload. For much of the game, Ravens used heavy personnel packages. This included frequent sets with two tight ends for extra blocking. Isaiah Likely had a season high of 50 snaps (70%), Charlie Kolar was next with 37 snaps, and Mark Andrews came in third place with 31 snaps. Pat Ricard also saw a lot action, with 43 snaps. Andrews and Likely were second and third in the team for receiving behind Zay Flower.

Derrick Henry, the star of the evening, saw his career high workload as he ran 36 times in 48 snaps (63%) Henry ran for 4 touchdowns and 216 yards while averaging 6 yards per carry. Keaton Mitchel, who was behind him on the field, also saw nine carries and ran for 31 yards over 14 snaps. Rasheen Ali caught only two passes for eight yards and played one more snap (15) than Mitchell.

Zay Flowers, the wide receiver who played just 68% of snaps (52), made the most out of his limited volume by catching four passes, for a team high 30 yards, and a touchdown. Rashod bateman caught seven yards from his one and only target in 40 snaps, while Deandre hospsios had just one target but no catches on 19 snaps (25%)

Two Ravens safeties, Alohi Gilman and Malaki Starks, played 100% of defensive reps. Kyle Hamilton (41) did not. Alohi Gillman and Malaki Starks both played all defensive reps. Ar’Darius was limited to only seven snaps during his third game. Washington had a quarterback hit.

Chidobe awuzie, who was previously a cornerback in the rotation, returned and played 26 snaps. Nate Wiggins, who was tied for the third-most snaps among all defensive players, played 41 snaps. Marlon Hushprey, despite being shaken briefly, played 38 snaps. T.J. Tampa, the No. 4 cornerback, played seven snaps. 4 cornerback. For much of the game, the Ravens’ corners struggled to stop the Packers’ wide receivers and passing attack.

Trenton Simpson, another starter at linebacker saw 32 snaps (68%). Dre’Mont Robinson and Tavius Jones led the way on the edges with 37 and each 35 snaps. Kyle Van Noy, Mike Green and others trailed them with 22 and 23 snaps. Green’s snaps count represents another significant drop in his playing time since Robinson’s return from injury.

Travis Jones had another heavy workload as defensive tackle, with an 81% snap-share (38 total). He had four tackles, a tackle for loss and 1.5 sacks. John Jenkins was the next defensive lineman, but he played only 19 snaps. Brent Urban and C.J. Okoye combined only nine snaps in the back.
