What the Pundits are Expecting in Ravens-Browns Game

A bunch of players have played a part in the defense’s turnaround

Baltimore’s defense has made a remarkable turnaround since the trade of Alohi Gillman last month. The Ravens were able to use the versatile Hamilton, and relieve some of the pressure on Malaki Starks. Starks is a first-round safety who has made two interceptions in the past two games.

These three players are not the only ones who have made an impact in a defense which has kept the last four opponents at 19 points or less.

Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun specifically mentioned defensive linebacker Travis Jones, second round rookie outside linebacker Mike Green and fourth-round freshman inside linebacker Teddy Buchanan, as being key contributors.

Wacker wrote: “Jones has been in great shape of late, and is causing havoc.” His 21 pressures (including six on Sunday) lead the team, and his four quarterback tackles and four tackles-for-loss are as many as all of last year. He has also had two pass breaks, just one short of his total for his entire career.

Green has recorded 1 1/2 sacks in the past three games after going six games without one. He’s also been a problem in other ways. For example, against the Vikings, he altered his rush in order to collide and alter the path of receiver Justin Jefferson who was lined in the backfield. This resulted in a scramble by quarterback J.J. McCarthy for only 3 yards. Green had four pressures in the game, the second most on the team. Buchanan has also seen an improvement in his defensive PFF scores, even though he is playing fewer snaps. This was after he was forced to play a larger role in Week 4, when Roquan suffered a hamstring strain and missed the following two games.”

Ebony Bird ‘s Connor Burke , said veteran cornerback Chidobe. Awuzie has also played a major role. The veteran cornerback signed a contract worth.

In seven games, his overall grade is 73.7, according to Pro Football Focus. Burke wrote that this mark is 12th among the 109 cornerbacks who qualify for the NFL, and his coverage of 76.1 is 5th-best.

Awuzie’s addition is of particular significance for this Sunday, as cornerback Marlon Husrey has been sidelined by a finger injury.

Burke wrote: “He quietly made his presence felt all season. But now that he is taking on a bigger role in Cleveland, it’s the perfect opportunity for him to solidify his claim as the steal from this offseason.”
