On the outcome of his first match back: I was expecting to play better in the second half. But it was great to be there. There were a lot of emotions at the end. “It’s good to be with the guys again.”
How would he grade himself? “I started to place it more where I wanted in the second half. I settled down a bit. I missed some throws I normally make. After that, I was pretty comfortable in the back. I thought that the O-line played well, and we ran it very effectively. The defense was excellent. “I’ve got to continue improving.”
What issues he found in the red area: Well, I’m thinking. You have to give them credit for most of the time. They messed up their looks. We were under zero pressure. They doubled Ja’Marr [Chase], and they singled Ja’Marr. There were a lot different things they did. We have to play the game and get the ball into the end zone. It was a game of that type. We couldn’t kick six fields goals, but it was a similar kind of match. It was a game of ‘take your point’ with the way our defense played and the way we moved the ball. The one that hurt us the most was when we had a turnover and ended up with no points. It’s usually hard to win a game with that many turnovers, but we managed to do it.”
The Ravens used zero-blitzing on all four snaps. “Yeah. That was the only time they did it.” The Ravens were still playing a man the next few times. I’ve said that they doubled Ja’Marr Chase sometimes and did not double Ja’Marr Chase other times. Tanner Hudson made the play that we needed, on what I consider to be the best safety in this league. He continues to make play upon play and that play really opened up the floodgates. So credit to Tanner.”
