Even though Mark Andrews, a three-time Pro Bowl tight-end, will be 31 years old at the beginning of the 2026 NFL season. The Baltimore Banner’s Kyle Goon praised the Ravens’ decision to extend the contract with the three-time Pro Bowl tight-end to a three year extension.
Goon wrote: “There are players that you can count on both for production, and others to build culture and set an example.” “Mark Andrews has both.” Andrews, although he’s not on the “Mount Rushmore” of Ravens’ history — it’s hard to move Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Jonathan Ogden out of this top four — is (by definition), a franchise legend. Andrews is a driving force behind Baltimore’s hopes of reaching the postseason in this year.
Andrews, said Goon, has once again shown this season why he’s so valuable.
Goon wrote: “In a season in which the passing offense has been out of whack for a while, it is distorting to see Andrews’ declines in receiving yards and catches and conclude he’s washed up.” Andrews is second on the team for receiving yards and second in receptions, with 19 more than the next-closest Isaiah Likely. He also has a knack of finding the endzone (16 touchdowns over the last two seasons), unlike the leading receiver Zay Flower.
It is absurd that the Ravens should allow their best target to hit bricks. They are having a difficult time in the red zones this year, more so than in any recent years. Since he was drafted in the NFL’s third round, his end-zone chemistry has kept this offense running.
Goon noted Andrews’ professionalism, dedication and commitment.
If we only talked about Andrews’ performance on the field, it might not be worth him being one of the NFL’s highest-paid tight ends. Goon wrote that Andrews’ work ethic was unbeatable. Andrews’ intense practice sets the tone almost to the point of being a nuisance. He can be just as angry at a poor drive in practice as he is on Sundays. You won’t find him skipping workout sets.”
