The Ravens front office is ranked No. NFL executives and head coaches rank the Ravens’ front office No.

Matt Stover says Tyler Loop “Is going to be a great kicker”

Matt Stover, former Ravens kicker who is a member of the Ring of Honor, believes that rookie Tyler Loop will be a “great kicker,” thanks to his ability and an excellent coaching staff.

First of all, is he talented? Stover recently said on Glenn Clark Radio that yes, it is very obvious that he has the talent. Second, does he possess the ability to learn quickly and not make the rookie mistakes I made? I had no one to show me how to kick and practice. I didn’t know how to use a snapper or a holder. Randy Brown is his name.”

Brown is the Ravens’ Senior Special Teams coach. He has been with the team for 18 years. Stover, who entered the NFL in 1990 as a New York Giants player, worked with Brown during his final season in 2008 with the Ravens.

Stover challenged his audience to find a better operation in the NFL.

Stover said Loop had already proven that he could handle the mental side of kicking for the NFL.

“He kicks a 52 yard field goal on his first ever attempt.” Stover said, “That’s real.”

Loop has converted all of his five field-goal attempts, and 12 out of 13 extra point kicks. Loop’s lone extra point missed in Week 1 cost him a 1-point loss against the Buffalo Bills. But Stover was impressed by how he responded in the following week when he scored on both field goal attempts and five extra points in a victory over the Cleveland Browns.

“Can he compartmentalize this miss and go out and execute the next? Stover said, “You’re going miss. It’s what you do next.” He proved that he could do that.

Kickoffs are an area where Loop can improve. Three kicks have been out of bounds and one has not landed in the landing zone. These mistakes give the receiving side the ball on their 40-yard line.

“The kicks which do not land in the landing zone are obviously experimental kicks.” Last week, Special Teams Coordinator Chris Horton stated that “[They are] things we’re trying.” “We are trying a number of different things. We’re trying to get the ball down, but there are kicks that go out of bounds. “I think we need to eliminate those kicks from our system.”
