The first half in Buffalo has been anything but smooth sailing for the Ravens, as they find themselves trailing the Bills 21-10. In what feels like a reversal of their dominant Week 4 performance, Baltimore has struggled to find its footing against a relentless Buffalo defense and a locked-in Josh Allen.
Here’s a closer look at the key moments, sights, and sounds from the first 30 minutes of play:
According to Next Gen Stats, Lamar Jackson has been under siege, facing pressure on 54.5% of his dropbacks—the most he’s seen since Week 4 of 2023. With six pressures and one sack (courtesy of Damar Hamlin’s strip sack), the Bills’ defensive front has disrupted Baltimore’s rhythm early and often.
Buffalo fans made their feelings loud and clear, chanting MVP as Josh Allen rushed for two touchdowns in the first half. Allen’s ability to create plays on the ground and through the air has been a thorn in Baltimore’s side, and his efficiency continues to be a driving force for the Bills.
“JOSH ALLEN’S 2ND RUSHING TD OF THE HALF 😤,” tweeted @NFL.
Even with Zay Flowers out, Rashod Bateman delivered a big-play spark for Baltimore, hauling in a 42-yard bomb from Lamar Jackson and later finding the end zone. His two catches for 58 yards and a touchdown have been among the few bright spots for the Ravens offense.
“RASHOD BATEMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!,” cheered @Ravens after his touchdown grab.
Self-inflicted wounds have been the story of the first half for Baltimore. Jackson threw his fifth interception of the season on a miscommunication with Bateman, and a botched snap led to a Bills fumble recovery, stalling another promising drive.
“CHAOS ON THE SNAP AND THE BILLS RECOVER 😮,” exclaimed @NFL.
Mark Andrews also fumbled after making a 16-yard catch, adding to the Ravens’ first-half struggles.
Emotions boiled over late in the second quarter when Lamar Jackson was tackled near the sideline, sparking a near altercation. Ravens fans weren’t thrilled with the lack of a flag on the play.
“Lamar gets tackled as he was going out of bounds. A fight almost breaks out and no flags were thrown,” noted @Rate_the_Refs.
With the second half underway, the Ravens have a mountain to climb if they hope to turn things around. Can Baltimore clean up their mistakes and mount a comeback, or will the Bills hold on to punch their ticket to the AFC Championship?
Stay tuned!
