Shedeur Sanders declined to be drafted by the Ravens, according to reports

Sanders will be opposite Jackson when the Ravens face Cleveland on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium.

Cleveland selected Sanders in Round 5, (144 th overall), just three spots after Ravens reported considering him. Baltimore selected offensive lineman Carson Vinson in his place.

Jackson, a two-time MVP and 28-year-old Ravens quarterback will start for the Ravens in the near future. In March, Baltimore signed backup quarterback Cooper Rush. Sanders would then have competed for the third quarterback position. Sanders had a better chance of becoming the starter in Cleveland.

Sanders is Cleveland’s No. Cleveland has a depth chart that places Sanders behind Joe Flacco, the starter, and Dillon Gabriel, a rookie. Sanders was one of five quarterbacks who were on the Browns’ active roster during training camp. Sanders made it onto their 53-man list. Cleveland released Tyler Huntley and traded Kenny Pickett, a quarterback who had signed up with the Ravens practice squad.

Flacco, 40, will make his first trip to Baltimore since leaving the Ravens at the end of the 2018 season. Schefter said that Sanders is close to becoming a Raven.
