The numbers of this deal seem bizarre at first glance. Jones’ $13.5m APY is 26th in the NFL among defensive tackles. It is difficult to argue that he should be in this company, either in terms of value or skill. This contract is all the more shocking when you consider Jones’ apparent leverage in his role as a free agent pending due to Nnamdi’s uncertain future. The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec revealed that Jones was in a difficult contract situation, which led him to accept a deal below market value. For the Ravens this means they will be able to keep one of their top defenders until the 2028 season. The Ravens’ biggest need is addressed by this extension, and Jones’s presence will remain a key part of the defense in Baltimore for many years. – Nikhil Mehta
The Ravens’ offseason to-do-list included re-signing Travis Jones. Retaining Jones was a must, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Nnamdi Magubuike. Jones’s salary of just over $13 million per year is a great deal for a player with his caliber. He rarely has impressive sack totals, but his presence multiplies the force of the pass rush. Opposing teams must dedicate two offensive linemen to block him. Jones is a nose tackle who is equally disruptive to both the pass and run. Eric DeCosta will have a lot of work to do this offseason in order to rebuild the trenches both on the offensive and defensive side. It is therefore a huge help that Jones will not be needed as a replacement. Dustin Cox
The injury to Nnamdi Madubuike only made me more determined to extend Travis Jones. It’s a win-win for both parties, and it prevents the Ravens having another need in the offseason. It’s strange that Eric DeCosta is making these moves at this time of year. However, reports state this was due to a CBA issue.
The value of this deal is excellent. Jones is a space eater who makes the Ravens’ run defense tick. DeCosta must find a pass rusher to pair with Jones if the rumors about Madubuike’s retirement are true. Mark Myers
Just the news that the Ravens were in need of. Even though 2025 may seem like a lost season for the Ravens in terms of their football, it is important to always look ahead. Travis Jones’s future was uncertain for now, and it was important to lock him down. Jones was expected as a leading name in the free agent market for the upcoming offseason, and to become one of highest paid tackles within the league. A problem with his CBA may have prevented him from becoming a restricted-free agent. The Ravens took advantage of this opportunity. Jones is a Pro-Bowl candidate, and he has the explosive power to destroy blockers in both the run game and the passing game. If the Ravens can improve the pass rush, Jones could become a force. The Ravens are getting a bargain in the meantime. – Zach Canter
The Ravens have secured NT Travis Jones, arguably their most important defensive lineman. Jones has shown steady improvement since his rookie season, displaying flashes at times of dominance and being a constant force against the rush. Baltimore needed to retain Nmandi’s Madubuikue, whose future was uncertain. Baltimore must prioritize adding pass rushers this offseason. However, Jones’ presence in Baltimore for three years is a good foundation to build on. – Stephen Bopst
