Baltimore Ravens won their third consecutive game with a victory of 27-19 over Minnesota Vikings. Here are the immediate reactions from Baltimore Beatdown staff:
Is it beautiful? It was not pretty. On Sunday, the Ravens had a lot of offensive plays left on the field, but any win is good, and especially for this squad. The defense was clean, except for some pass interference. They forced J.J. McCarthy to make a lot of mistakes, which included two field goals. Baltimore’s coverage on special teams was fierce, forcing two fumbles during kickoffs. However, only one of them was recovered. It was enough turnovers for the offense to defeat the Vikigns. However, situational playcalling remains an issue. The Ravens, despite being 4-5, are still able to make a lot of noise in AFC. – Nikhil Mehta
The Ravens fans were treated to the all-too common late-game anxiety as they feared the team would repeat their collapse from week one in Buffalo. Fortunately, the Ravens managed to escape and secure a third consecutive win. It was never beautiful. It was never pretty. Lamar Jackson’s offense and Lamar Jackson never found a rhythm until the end of the game, but they were unable, for whatever reason, to make the game out of reach. This is a cause for concern. It is an incredible achievement to win in such a hostile environment. Next Sunday, the Ravens will have to play 60 minutes of winning football. Mark Myers
The Ravens’ third consecutive win was not a spectacular one, but it kept their season alive. They are now only one game below.500. Even though they have faced less-than-stellar quarterbacks, the defensive turnaround appears to be real. This team has made a huge improvement by forcing turnovers. They added three more today. Dre’Mont had a few pressures on his Baltimore debut, which was encouraging. I am still sceptical about the unit’s ability to handle top-end quarterbacks. However, they don’t have to worry right now because their schedule is easy.
Jackson’s offensive play was excellent. Todd Monken also found ways to make creative conversions in multiple short yardage situations, an area where the Ravens struggled this season and sometimes in this game. Keaton Mitchell continues to impress with his lightning-fast speed and big-play abilities. I would like to see him get more snaps in the running game. Dustin Cox
The Ravens won in Minnesota, and now have three wins in a row to get back to 4-5 for the season. The Ravens’ red-zone offense is still not impressive, and it wasn’t pretty. But as a team, they look much better than the one that we saw a month earlier. Recent improvements on the defensive end of the football have been the most notable. The Ravens’ pass rush is still not a very good unit, but Kyle Hamilton moving to the nickel position has made a huge difference for them at the line of scrimmage. Dre’Mont, a newcomer to the Ravens, made a few good plays. He should be a big part of their rush as the season goes on. This team has the potential to make the playoffs and go on a big run, but there are still questions about the offensive and defense lines. – Stephen Bopst
The Ravens fought to a decisive victory in an hostile environment. The Ravens’ offense was inconsistent at times and they left some points out on the field. The second week in a row, they were more efficient and maintained drives better in second half. It wasn’t perfect, but scoring 27 points was sufficient for a comfortable win. This was thanks to the solid defense. The Ravens took advantage of Vikings’ mistakes and forced multiple turnovers, something they struggled with in the beginning of the season. The Ravens will be able to win games and get into the playoffs with the upcoming soft opponents. – Frank Platko
The Ravens won a sloppy game in the Twin Cities. Lamar Jackson was at the center of an offense that looked as disjointed and jumbled as it had ever been. The run game took three quarters and the passing game was a mess with Jackson appearing uncomfortable and dropping passes. The offensive line is still the main culprit, with guards playing some the worst football ever seen in the NFL.
The defense was able to have a successful day, despite the late scores. The defense had a good day despite late scores. They ended with 12 quarterback hits and 13 passes defended, which is astronomical for them. Malaki Starks, Marlon Hushprey and Roquan Smith all had interceptions. Roquan’s was also stolen by a bizarre replay assist overturn. The Ravens’ defense was able to do exactly what they needed. The Ravens defense created turnovers, made JJ McCarthy uncomfortable and kept the Ravens close while settling for field goals. – Zach Canter
