Baltimore Ravens’.500 dropped below the.500 mark with a devastating loss on Sunday night. The Ravens lost 28-24 to the New England Patriots at home. The Ravens still had a chance to win the fourth quarter despite losing Lamar Jackson before halftime due to a back problem. However, they saw their double-digit advantage evaporate. Here are Baltimore Beatdown’s immediate reactions to the game. Comment below and join in the conversation.
It felt as if the Ravens had finally turned a corner after a great start against the Patriots, following the Bengals match. We got to see the entire season compressed into just a few quarters. The Ravens lost. Ravens lose.
It’s possible that the outcome would be different if Lamar Jackson stayed in the game. But, frankly, it shouldn’t matter. The Ravens missed their chance and could not figure it out. It’s time. After seeing the same thing play out over and over again, it’s time to change the identity of the team. Move forward, clear the house and reset your brain. — Zach Canter
The Ravens’ disastrous season comes to an end with a bang. The Ravens’ season ended in Week 16 because of Zay Flowers’ fumble. This is a common sight. Tyler Huntley did a great job in Lamar Jackson’s absence. However, the defense failed to deliver in the second half. The pre-season Super Bowl favorite team was pushed to this position by a combination strange coaching decisions like pulling Derrick Henry during the penultimate offensive play and sloppy playing. Lamar Jackson may have been injured this season, yet it shouldn’t stop management from making the changes they should’ve made years ago. This is an untrained, sloppy team that gives up in crucial moments. It is not worthy to be in the NFL Playoffs. — Stephen Bopst
I didn’t expect to lose eight games (and counting) in this season. This one may be the most painful in a year of crushing losses. Another fourth-quarter lead blown. Derrick Henry was ignored again in a game that ended late. Lamar Jackson will get injured in another game, and the next week will be full of excruciating questions. Zay Flowers silenced doubters for 58 mins and then succumbed yet again to his greatest flaw.
The coaching staff must go. The culture has broken down. This defense cannot be called “Baltimore”. Todd Monken is unable to consistently call games for the offense. It’s painful. Lamar Jackson deserves better. Eric DeCosta should be able to remove this bandage. Mark Myers
This game highlighted many of the problems that the Ravens faced during the season. This game featured many of the Ravens’ main problems this season, from key players fumbling, to abandoning Derrick Henry to failing to sack opposing quarterback and Lamar Jackson being injured. The team has failed to learn from its mistakes and it is not deserving of making the playoffs. This offseason, it’s time to try new things. John Harbaugh was a great coach for the team for many years, but it seems that his train has stopped moving. Dustin Cox
The Ravens were able to run the ball well and caused multiple turnovers. The Ravens converted third downs efficiently and were in a prime position to win the game late, even without Lamar Jackson at center. Sadly, they were haunted by many of their worst mistakes. The Ravens blew it on their final two drives in the fourth quarter. They gave up explosive passing plays and couldn’t pressure the quarterback. The Ravens suffered their sixth loss at home this year, and third during primetime. The Ravens, with their season possibly on the line and their backs to the wall, failed to rise up and squandered another double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. — Frank Platko
