At halftime, the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers are tied at 10 points each. Here are the Baltimore Beatdown staff’s first-half reaction.
Derrick Henry’s performance (15 carries, 112 yard) makes a seven-point advantage seem insufficient. The Ravens’ poor two-minute defense nearly allowed a game-tying score before the half. Lamar Jackson is not comfortable dropping behind the line-of-scrimmage. Henry’s performance should improve in the second half. Outside of the last drive, the defense has been great. However, they are still gaining too many easy yardage. There are plenty of reasons to be cautiously optimistic. It’s clear that the Ravens are in a good enough position to win. – Nikhil Mehta
Big time stop! The Ravens have a small lead at halftime, but penalties prevented them from doing so. Pittsburgh’s pass game is predictable, as it only consists of screens to Gainwell or Warren. This game is yours to win as long as the defense does its job, and the offense adds another 10 points. The first-down penalty must be eliminated and Derrick Henry allowed to continue eating. The next 30 minutes are going to be painful. – Mark Myers
The Ravens looked far superior despite the best efforts of the referees. It was obvious going into the game that it would be close, but it was a question of how things would unfold. Although the Ravens were able to run the ball well, they still appeared out of place in obvious passing situations. Monken must run the ball in the second half and get Jackson into a rhythm using the short passing game. Pittsburgh’s offensive isn’t good without D.K. Metcalf. Zach Orr must focus on the Steelers’ tight ends and running backs. I expect a lot of Henry to come out in the second half. But for Baltimore to win they need to avoid that dreaded mistake.

After a fourth-down stop at the goal line, the defense did exactly what it needed to do. They limited a Steelers’ offense lacking in big playmakers to just one field. The tackling needs to be improved. Pittsburgh’s only offense was checkdowns for the runningbacks. Limit the under-the-catch gains and the defense will be able to limit.
In the meantime, the offense can’t get away from their own way. Penalties have halted and stalled multiple drives. The Ravens are still feeding the Birthday King who has already surpassed 100 yards. Lamar Jackson is a sharp player, completing multiple passes despite the drops by the receivers. Baltimore is racing to score 20 points in this game. If the offense gets there, they will win the division. – Zach Canter
