Roundtable Reactions – Ravens continue to lose against Rams

In Week 6, the Baltimore Ravens suffered their third consecutive loss, falling 17-3 to the Los Angeles Rams. The Ravens are 1-5 and have been outscored in three straight games by double-digits. Here are Baltimore Beatdown Roundtable Reactions following the team’s loss:

Today, the Ravens had already found a competent team. Derrick Henry was a good runner and the Rams were well contained by the Ravens’ defense in the first half. It all went downhill quickly. Cooper Rush missed passes, Flowers fumbled two times, the Ravens failed to convert (again) from the 1-yard-line, and the defense crumbled in the second half. Tyler Huntley’s drive in the fourth-quarter was also a failure.

This team is now at a major crossroads. They are 1-5. During the bye-week, do they change their coaching staff? Do they begin selling pieces? Do they purchase pieces during the bye? They can try to find a way to win and run during the bye week.

The Ravens defense made a great effort for the first time this season against a talented opponent. Unfortunately, the Ravens were once again unable to play a balanced and consistent game of football. The Ravens were able to run the ball well, but their three offensive turnovers were too much for them to overcome. It’s the same for failing to score from one yard away just before halftime when the Ravens failed on three consecutive run attempts. In the first half, the Ravens had some lucky breaks that kept them in the game. However, they failed to take advantage of this and their chances in the third quarter quickly faded.

It’s hard to say that the Ravens’ loss against the Rams was more frustrating than the Texans’ thrashing last week. It’s one to be beaten in your own stadium with your best players out. It’s quite another to miss at least half a dozen opportunities to control a game they were supposed to lose.

Baltimore was lucky in Sunday’s match, but they didn’t take advantage of that. The Rams committed many unforced mistakes, but the Ravens responded by making their own. It’s hard to win football games in general, and impossible without Lamar Jackson.

It was a desperate attempt to avoid the Ravens ending up with a record of 1-5 going into their bye-week, but they will be there. If Lamar Jackson doesn’t get ready by week 8, the 2025 season could be over. — Nikhil Mehta

I expected the Rams’ offense to be rife with points, so the Ravens defense allowing just 17 was a pleasant surprise, even though some untimely drops played a part. The offense was responsible for the loss of the game today. Cooper Rush looks like a bad free agent at this point. Tyler Huntley’s late-game quarterback switch was a boost, but it wasn’t sustained. The most frustrating and confusing sequence in the game was when Baltimore couldn’t get to the end zone four consecutive times, two of which were tush-pushes with Mark Andrews rather than simply giving the ball to Derrick Henry.

Even with Lamar Jackson at the helm, I’m not sure how this team will be able to recover from 1-5 after their bye. The current state of the game is rife with mistakes. — Dustin Cox
