Baltimore Ravens’ record drops to 1-3 after a loss of 37-20 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Here are some instant reactions by the Baltimore Beatdown staff.
Early on in the matchup against the Chiefs, it was obvious that the Ravens would not win. Both teams looked utterly unprepared to face what should have been a familiar Kansas City team by now. Lamar Jackson, the highest-paid player on the team, was injured or underperforming. The coaching staff was unable to respond to another Andy Reid and Steve Spagnuolo masterpiece.
John Harbaugh’s Ravens are the worst at getting in their own way. They made too many mistakes that they caused themselves, which created too many opportunities for Patrick Mahomes and Co. to take advantage of. By the time Jackson had left the game, the feeling was that the rest of team had already given up.
This could be more of a problem for the Ravens than injuries. The Ravens’ early mistakes seem to spread and infect the entire team. Both the offense and defense play opposite football. Individual bad plays become bad drives which then turn into poor quarters. — Nikhil Mehta
Both the team and its players are injured. It doesn’t change the fact that the defense was bad before the decimation. Now the injury to the defense has gone beyond recovery. We lost Stanley to injury early on in the offense, and we now have to wait to find out if Lamar Jackson is going to be out for a long time.
This game is not worth talking about. All units were terrible. Tyler Loop was the only player to play well. The end.
Consider me stunned and please if, even if Lamar Jackson was healthy, they had more than two victories at the bye-week. If Jackson is not playing, the team will not add another victory. — Zach Canter
The team had been struggling for a while before injuries decimated a number of players. It’s difficult to see any major changes in the future for this team, given its history. The mood around the Ravens couldn’t be any worse in a year that was considered Super Bowl-or-bust before Week One.
Lamar Jackson’s injury is the biggest question of this game. Will he be out for a long time? This team will be finished without Jackson. The playoffs suddenly are not guaranteed, even with Jackson. This is a team with too many injuries. — Dustin Cox
