Roundtable Reactions – Baltimore Ravens win against New York Jets and look flat

Baltimore Ravens beat the New York Jets 23-10 Sunday afternoon. The Ravens are now 6-5, and could be in first place of the AFC North with a Bears win over the Steelers. It was a win, even if it wasn’t inspiring. Here are some reactions from the Baltimore Beatdown staff:

The Ravens don’t really know how to win, unless it is ugly. On Sunday, the Ravens’ offense was not able to inspire with a 13-point victory margin. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ run game struggled to find a rhythm throughout the game. It didn’t matter much because Baltimore’s defense had another great day and Jordan Stout’s booming punts slowed down the Jets ability to move the football. This is the worst a team could look after five consecutive wins. And this level of play will not hold up to better opponents.

MVP: Jordan Stout. He consistently flipped the field on Sunday, helping the Ravens to win the field-position battle throughout the game. Nikhil Mehta

The Ravens finally have a winning record. Unfortunately, this was yet another uninspiring victory. This is not the way five wins in a line should feel. Lamar Jackson’s offense and Lamar Jackson will have to find a way to continue this winning streak, as the upcoming schedule features much better offenses. Jordan Stout was in top form, and the pass-rush finally got some traction without having to rely on too many blitzes. As of now, it’s hoped that Kyle Hamilton’s injury won’t be serious because the Bengals could have a tough time without him when they visit on Thursday.

The Ravens won their fifth consecutive game against the lowly New York Jets. The Ravens offense was anaemic in the first half with only four first downs. In the second half, things picked up. It’s important to note that Lamar Jackson does not look good. Jackson was uneasy for the second consecutive game. He missed throws and hesitated to use his legs. The Ravens did a good job on defense, but they gave up some big plays by Jets RB Breece hall. Kyle Hamilton, the star safety in this game, suffered some injuries and will be one to watch for the rest of the week. It’s impressive that the Ravens are now above.500 following their 1-5 start. The quality of the Ravens’ opponents and their concerns about offense will continue leaving fans disappointed.

The Ravens officially became a second half team as they climbed to 6-5. Lamar Jackson continued to appear out of sorts throughout the first-half. The Ravens offense was anemic. In the second half, the unit scored two touchdowns on their two third quarter drives. Baltimore only managed 23 points, but their offensive issues are obvious. They have to learn how to run their 2024 offense, because it’s obvious that they are not the same team as in 2024. Jackson must also learn how to play at an MVP-level again. The defense was dominant throughout the game. Tyrod Taylor’s Jets offense was unable to breathe as a result of three more sacks, two more turnovers, and two more interceptions. Breece hall and Taylor were able to string together some plays in the running game. This continues to be an issue for the Ravens. However, overall the defense won.

MVP: Jordan Stout. He’s the best punter of the NFL. Stout’s ability to continue to pin opponents, and set up the defense to keep this team in the game, is important. I’d be surprised if Stout doesn’t win Special Teams player of the week. – Zach Canter
