Roquan Smith hugged John Harbaugh after the Ravens beat the Chicago Bears 30-16 in the final minutes of the game.
The return of the Ravens’ defensive leader was a major factor in stopping their four-game losing streak.
Smith’s 90.7 defensive grade in his first game after a hamstring problem that kept him out of two games was the highest ever for the Ravens. Smith recorded a game high of 12 tackles.
Smith stated, “In this game of Football you never want to get injured because your best capability is your availability.” It all comes down to that. “I’m grateful to be with my team and to win here at M&T Bank Stadium.”
Smith’s game was extra meaningful because the Bears had traded him to Ravens in the middle of the 2023 season. Smith played his first game against the Ravens since.
Smith was eventually signed to a mega-contract extension by the Ravens, and T.J. Edwards was signed the following year by the Bears on a cheaper deal. While it’s only one game, Smith scored a 90.7, while Edwards recorded a 50.2.
Smith claimed he has long since forgotten any feelings he may have had regarding the Bears’ trading him.
Smith stated, “I’m confident in who I am, both as a human being and as a footballer, and I understand what I can bring to the team.”
