The Ravens’ injury report on Thursday featured good news, bad news, and borderline-ridiculous news.
Let’s begin with the positive: Tyler Linderbaum was upgraded, as were Ronnie Stanley and Kyle Van Noy. Nate Wiggins also received an upgrade.
Linderbaum, Van Noy and the rest of the team were all participants. They should be able play on Sunday against the Texans. Stanley and Wiggins’ participation in Friday’s practice will be key to their availability. They were both limited due to missing Wednesday’s session.
Linderbaum, Stanley and the Ravens’ offensive line will be key against Houston’s dangerous front seven. Cooper Rush will start as expected. Every other offensive player must step up to the plate to have a shot. Devontez Walk was also upgraded. While he hasn’t had a big role on the field as a wide receiver this season, his special teams skills will be crucial.
Van Noy has been absent from the Ravens for a while, and his return in any capacity is a huge boost. His gradual ramp-up from a limited role to full participation may have him ready to play on Sunday. Wiggins’ elbow injuries in Kansas City were not good. However, his quick return to practice in a limited capacity shows that he will likely miss little time.
The bad news is that Kyle Hamilton was forced to miss Thursday’s practice due to a groin injury he sustained during the Wednesday session. Hamilton’s absence would be a problem if the other members of the defense were healthy. But now, with the entire unit decimated on all levels, the defense could crumble if Hamilton was sidelined. The fans will eagerly await a final injury designation and a status update on Hamilton’s condition.
And now for the borderline-ridiculous news: Odafe Oweh suffered an eye injury, presumably in practice on Thursday. Oweh’s injury is a ridiculous twist in an already horrifying season.
Here’s the Ravens injury report for today (* indicates a change in status).
The Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., who returned to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday, will likely not be able to avoid him at this weekend. Nico Collins, the wide receiver who was previously limited to a limited participation in practice, has been upgraded to a full participation. He will be looking to take advantage of Baltimore’s weak secondary on Sunday.
