Amani Oruwariye, a veteran cornerback who has been with the Ravens for over ten years, was signed to their practice squad on Wednesday due to injuries suffered by Marlon (Calf) Humphrey and Nate Wiggins.
Newcomers may be called upon to play immediately in the Ravens’ upcoming Sunday game against Houston Texans.
Oruwariye is 29 years old and in his 7th NFL season. He has played 61 games, including 40 starts.
He spent his first four years with the Detroit Lions after being drafted in the fifth round by Penn State. In 2021, he had his best season, making six interceptions, eleven passes defensed and 57 tackles over 14 starts.
Since his rookie contract with the Lions expired, he has moved around. He signed his first contract with the New York Giants back in 2023. Then, he went to the Jacksonville Jaguars the same year.
Last season, he played in seven games and four of them as a starter for the Dallas Cowboys. He had 29 tackles, one interception and three passes broken up.
