Ravens sign OLB Tavius Robinson and S Ar’Darius Washington

According to a team press release , the Baltimore Ravens activated outside linebacker Tavius Washington (injured list) and safety Ar’Darius Washington.

Both players have been listed as questionable to play in Sunday’s match against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, their inclusion on the active list indicates that they will be playing. Robinson participated in full practice on both Thursday and Friday. Washington has been practicing in full since the last week.

Robinson, 26 years old, broke his foot on October 1st and was immediately placed on IR, even though he didn’t need surgery. On December 2, he was declared to be returning and will rejoin the Ravens outside linebacker’s rotation. Robinson won’t have to play the same 65% snaps he did in the first six weeks of the season, thanks to Dre’Mont Jones. The Ravens are hoping that he can finish the season showing some of the flashes they expected from him as a third-year player.

David Ojabo, a fourth-year edge rusher, will probably be out on Sunday. Robinson’s return may mark the end of Robinson’s time in Baltimore. Injury hampered the 2022 second rounder in his first two seasons, and he hasn’t taken advantage of any opportunities in the past two years. He has not been able to pressure the opposing quarterbacks or set the edge this year despite Odafe Oweh’s departure at the trade deadline and the injuries suffered by Kyle Van Noy and Robinson. Ojabo’s last snaps in Baltimore could be his last if Baltimore’s outside-linebacker room remains healthy through the remainder of the season.

Washington, 26 has recovered quickly from the Achilles tear he suffered in offseason training seven months ago. At first, the Ravens may be cautious about his use and there might not be many snaps. Washington’s dime and quarter packages will be limited because the Ravens are already using full-time safeties, such as Kyle Hamilton, Malaki Startks, and Alohi Gillman.

Fifth-year Ravens safety, Chris Johnson was an integral part of their defensive turnaround in 2017. He is a versatile player with solid coverage skills. Orr had likely planned to use a three-safety package with Hamilton, Starks and Washington. This is similar to the one he uses now, with Gilman as the third safety.

The Ravens had already left two spots open on their 53-man team, so there was no need for them to make any changes with the activations of Saturday.
