According to the NFL transaction report, on Monday the Baltimore Ravens added former Titans wideout Colton Dowell as a member of their practice squad. The Ravens also had edge rushers Carl Lawson, J. Luketa and J. Luketa work out with them.

Pro Football Focus reports that he played 51 offensive snaps: 18 as a running back blocker and 33 as receiver. Dowell was sidelined for the entire 2024 season by a torn ACL suffered in Week 17. He was released by the Titans on the first of July.
Dowell was not able to adjust to another team’s training camp. He will take some time to adapt to Baltimore. The wideout, who is 6’3″ and 212 pounds, was a good candidate for the NFL draft. However, his injury, as well as the lack of NFL footage since, makes it difficult to determine what he can offer outside of being a special teams depth player.
It is not surprising that the Ravens are looking to sign veterans, as they only have three edge rushers left on their roster.
Luketa, drafted by Cardinals in the year 2022, played a rotating role in defense and special teams during his first two years. In 2025, he stepped up to a 30% snap-share and recorded his first three sacks (plus four tackles against loss). But that’s not the full story. Luketa was ranked 135th for pass rush rate (4.2%), and 124th out of 139 edge rushing players with at least 70 snaps.
Luketa may not be the best option to boost a pass rush that is in desperate need of an upgrade. The Ravens will still have to fill Tavius Robinson’s special teams snaps.
Lawson’s resume is much more impressive with 32 tackles for losses and 32.0 sacks across 89 appearances. He had better metrics in 2024 as a Cowboys player, with five sacks and 4 tackles for losses. Lawson was ranked 85th in PRWR with 9.4% among the same 139 edge-rushers. He had 27 pressures. He is a proven option that has a higher chance to make an immediate impact.
