The Baltimore Ravens have made sure that one of the NFL’s best offensive coordinators isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
The team announced that it has agreed to a contract extension with offensive coordinator Todd Monken, solidifying his place as a key piece of Baltimore’s Super Bowl pursuit for the foreseeable future.
After interviewing for head coaching jobs with the Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, and Jacksonville Jaguars, Monken ultimately remained in Baltimore. The extension ensures that the Ravens will retain the architect of their high-powered offense, even as other teams will undoubtedly continue to come calling in the years ahead.
While terms of the extension weren’t disclosed, Monken’s previous deal reportedly paid him around $3 million per year, already making him one of the highest-paid coordinators in the NFL (per Front Office Sports).
With two straight seasons of top-five offensive production, Monken’s new contract likely cements him as one of the highest-paid assistant coaches in NFL history.
🔹 Interviewed for three head-coaching jobs this offseason
🔹 Was not a finalist for any position, leading to extension talks with Baltimore
🔹 Now likely among the highest-paid coordinators in NFL history
The Ravens have always had a good offense under Lamar Jackson, but Monken has fully unlocked the unit’s potential, turning it into one of the NFL’s most balanced and efficient attacks.
Over the last two seasons, Monken has:
✅ Helped elevate Lamar Jackson into a next-level passer
✅ Seamlessly integrated Derrick Henry into the offense
✅ Developed young playmakers like Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Isaiah Likely
✅ Optimized role players like Charlie Kolar and Tylan Wallace
✅ Built one of the most balanced run-pass offenses in the league
Under Monken’s guidance, the Ravens became the first team in NFL history to produce both 4,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards in a single season.
More importantly, Monken helped Lamar Jackson take another leap, turning him into an MVP favorite for the second straight year.
Jackson is almost certain to win back-to-back MVPs, becoming the first player in NFL history to do so in his first two seasons under a new offensive coordinator.
While Monken is now locked in for the foreseeable future, he’ll have major decisions to help navigate this offseason:
🔹 Will the Ravens retain key offensive free agents like Patrick Ricard and Ronnie Stanley?
🔹 How will Baltimore continue to evolve its offense in 2025?
🔹 Will Derrick Henry remain the focal point of the rushing attack?
Though Monken’s return is great news for Baltimore, there’s little doubt that he’ll remain a hot commodity in next year’s head-coaching cycle. If the Ravens produce another top-five offense in 2025, teams will likely come calling again.
For now, though, Ravens fans can celebrate the fact that their offensive mastermind isn’t going anywhere.
