Baltimore Stands Behind Andrews as He Enters Final Contract Year

Mark Andrews isn’t going anywhere—at least not in 2025.

Despite speculation about his contract and Baltimore’s deep tight end room, both Head Coach John Harbaugh and General Manager Eric DeCosta made it clear that the three-time Pro Bowler remains a key piece of the Ravens’ future.

Harbaugh: “Mark is a huge part of our future.”

Andrews, who became the Ravens’ all-time leader in career touchdown receptions (51) this season, is entering the final year of his current contract. Given his $16 million cap hit in 2025, Baltimore could save $11 million by moving on, per OverTheCap.

However, that doesn’t appear to be in the Ravens’ plans.

🔹 Harbaugh’s Message: “We love him, and we’re there for him.”
🔹 DeCosta’s Take: “We’re blessed to have, in my opinion, the best tight ends room in the league.”

While the financial reality of next offseason could make Andrews’ future in Baltimore a difficult decision, the Ravens are fully committed to him in 2025.

Andrews Still a Premier Weapon in Baltimore’s Offense

Andrews may not have put up gaudy numbers in 2024, but he remained one of Lamar Jackson’s most trusted targets and a key figure in Baltimore’s passing and blocking schemes.

Mark Andrews’ 2024 Season Stats:

🏈 673 receiving yards
🏈 11 touchdowns (led team)
🏈 47 receptions
🏈 Missed time due to injury

Even after a slow start due to injuries, Andrews remained Jackson’s go-to target in the red zone and continued to dominate as a blocker—a skill that often goes underappreciated in today’s NFL.

Ravens’ Tight End Room: A Future Decision Looms

One reason why some speculated about Andrews’ future is that Baltimore has two young tight ends, Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar, also entering contract years.

What DeCosta Said About the TE Room:

“A year from now, we’ll have some tough choices and decisions to make regarding players. We’re blessed to have, in my opinion, the best tight ends room in the league and we’ll be blessed on the field this year as well.”

Isaiah Likely – Emerged as a legitimate offensive threat when Andrews was injured. Has flashed big-play ability and could be a future TE1.
Charlie Kolar – A solid depth piece who has continued to develop but remains more of a secondary option in the offense.

If both Likely and Kolar continue to improve, the Ravens could face a tough decision in 2026 about whether to extend Andrews or transition to younger, more cost-effective options.

Why the Ravens Are Sticking with Andrews (For Now)

1️⃣ Lamar Jackson’s Chemistry with Andrews is Special – Jackson and Andrews have a connection that’s rare in the NFL. He’s been Jackson’s security blanket for years, and Baltimore won’t risk disrupting that chemistry unnecessarily.

2️⃣ The Ravens Are in Win-Now Mode – Baltimore is one of the top Super Bowl contenders heading into 2025. Moving on from a proven, elite tight end now would be counterproductive to their championship aspirations.

3️⃣ Andrews Is a True Leader – Harbaugh raved about Andrews’ leadership, praising his mental toughness and work ethic.

“If anybody can take a tough circumstance like that and handle it with class and grace and dignity and mental toughness, it’s most definitely Mark Andrews.”

Final Thoughts: Andrews Remains a Core Piece—for Now

Yes, the Ravens will face a difficult financial decision next offseason, but for 2025, Mark Andrews is still at the heart of this team.

Baltimore remains committed to its All-Pro tight end, and barring an unforeseen contract dispute or regression in production, it looks like Andrews will be a Raven for at least one more season—possibly longer.
