Ravens S Sanoussi K Kane is poached from the practice squad

According to the NFL transaction report, the Tennessee Titans signed Sanoussi Kane from the Baltimore Ravens practice squad on Monday.

Kane, 24, played in just six Ravens games during the first half of the season. He was a key special teams player with only 12 defensive snaps. He was waived by Baltimore during its Week 7 Bye Week in favor of Keondre, a rookie undrafted who had impressed in special teams on his NFL debut Week 6. Perhaps fearing that Jackson would be taken by another team, the Ravens signed him off of their practice squad. Kane was signed to the practice team shortly after clearing waivers. He sat on the bench for a while before he was called up to special teams in Week 14, to replace Chandler Martin, who had suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

The Ravens didn’t need to promote Kane again after Tavius Washington and Ar’Darius Robinson returned in Week 15. Kane would have gotten more special teams time after Teddye Buchanan tore his ACL. Baltimore might prefer to use a third linebacker on the inside who can also contribute on defense during game days, rather than a safety that only plays on special teams.

Kane may have moved to the Titans because he didn’t feel he had a defined role in games. Kane may have played for the Ravens another game or two but the return of Jay Higgins to injured reserve will likely send him back to the bench. The Titans had to add safety depth immediately after placing three players on injured reserve Tuesday ( , according to me, writing for Pro Football Rumors). Kane could be involved in the special teams right away and even play a role on defense.

Kane and Jalyn armour-davis, an ex-Ravens cornerback, will reunite in Tennessee. He will also be playing under Dennard Wilson who is the current Titans defensive coach, but was previously the Ravens defensive backs’ coach.
