Ravens Reacts Survey – Firing John Harbaugh inspires confidence among Baltimoreans

Recent Ravens Reacts polls show that the confidence of fans in the Ravens has dropped to a low point for the season after the Ravens’ Week 16 loss to Patriots.

After a win and a Steelers defeat in Week 17, confidence shot up to 33% before a must-win game in Pittsburgh. After the Ravens’ heartbreaking loss, confidence jumped to 62% – the highest level since Week 12.

It is clear that the Ravens have fired John Harbaugh. Fans viewed Harbaugh more than any other issue – offensive line, play-calling in red zones, or defensive failures – as the root problem for this team. It was evident that the Ravens’ decision not to keep him on board gave them more confidence in their ability to turn things around.

Ravens fans also have an opinion on the new head coach. Nearly half of respondents think the Ravens should hire a defensively-minded coach. This is presumably because they believe Lamar Jackson and the new offensive coordinator will take care of matters on their side.

29% of fans would like to see an offensively-minded coach take the job after other teams in the league have done so over the past few years. The Lions, for example, have lost their offensive coordinators. This has led to a significant decline in performance. Klint Kubica, for example, would be protected if he was hired as the head coach of a team. Defensive coaches are also susceptible to being poached, but offensive minds tend to be more easily poached.

22 % said it didn’t matter what side of the field the Ravens focused on, as long as the hiring was done well. Based on the overall confidence of fans, it seems that they have faith in the team to achieve this.
