Ravens part ways with John Harbaugh, head coach

Harbaugh led Baltimore to 12 postseason appearances. The 2012 season ended with a Super Bowl XLVII victory, earning the franchise their second Lombardi Trophy. Harbaugh’s career regular-season win record is 180-113. He ranks fourth in active coaching with a total of 114 victories.

Baltimore finished the 2025 campaign with an 8-9 mark and missed the postseason for the first since 2021. The Ravens finished the 2025 season with an 8-9 record and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2021. After their heartbreaking loss of 26-24 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, in Week 18, the Ravens were out of playoff contention. This was Harbaugh’s third consecutive losing season.

Harbaugh, 63, had the second longest tenure of any active coach, behind only Mike Tomlin who has been coaching the Steelers for the past 19 years. Baltimore won six AFC North championships under Harbaugh, but fell short of being the first team to win three consecutive division titles.

Harbaugh, who was hired in 2008, immediately established a winning team culture. Harbaugh took over a Ravens team that had finished 5-11 in 2007. He led them to the playoffs for his first five years, culminating in their Super Bowl win in 2012.

Harbaugh, the only coach to have won at least one playoff match in each of his first five NFL seasons, has eight road playoff victories. This is more than any other coach in NFL history.

Harbaugh led the Ravens to a 14-2 record in 2019, a franchise best, and they won 12 of their final 13 regular-season games. In that year, he was the first Ravens’ coach to be named NFL Coach Of The Year. This was the first time that the Ravens had won the No. In 2023, they won 13-4 and were the No.

Harbaugh had seven former assistants who became NFL head coaches: Ravens Secondary Coach Chuck Pagano; current Seattle Seahawks Coach Mike Macdonald; David Culley; Vic Fangio; Hue Jackson; Mike Pettine and Rex Ryan.

Harbaugh, only the third Ravens head coach to leave the team after leaving a lasting mark.

Bisciotti stated, “We are now beginning the difficult, but exciting process of identifying our next football team leader.”

“We understand what our fans, and the entire Ravens organization, expect from us. It is important to find a strong leader or partner who can reflect these high standards.

We deeply appreciate our fans, and we will continue to work tirelessly to bring our city and our extended community the success that they deserve.
