Ravens lose to Chiefs due to injuries and mistakes

Roquan Stanley, Marlon Wiggins, Natlon Wiggins, Marlon Wiggins, and Ronnie Stanley left the game after suffering injuries. John Harbaugh, the head coach of the team, said that none of these injuries were considered to be serious.

The list of Ravens injured would make it easy to blame the team’s poor performance on Sunday. Baltimore had lost five of its six highest-paid players, including Wiggins, who was one of the few bright lights on defense this season. Early on, it became clear that the Chiefs had the superior team. The loss of Jackson was the final blow for the Ravens, but they were already in a downward spiral.

Baltimore’s offense scored a touchdown in their first drive for the second time in a week. The next four drives resulted in an interception and a 3-and out, as well as a turnover on the downs. Jackson’s fumble was his second of the day. Derrick Henry had only four carries in the first half for 31 yards.

Baltimore’s defence, on the other hand, allowed Kansas City to score in each of its first four possessions with little resistance. The Ravens were unable to contain Chiefs wide-receiver Xavier Worthy who had two huge plays in the opening half and a total of 122 yards from scrimmage. The Chiefs should have been a familiar team by now, but neither side looked ready for them.

Tyler Loop, a rookie kicker, scored a 43 yard field goal after a midfield defensive stop, a Harrison Butker missed field goal and a midfield defense stop. This six-point swing reduced the Chiefs’ 10-point lead heading into halftime. It was a small miracle considering how both teams had played up until that point.

The score began to reflect the true difference between the two teams in the second half. The Chiefs scored another touchdown in the third quarter to make the score 27-10. Jackson’s injury during the Ravens next drive also overshadowed a Loop field goal.

The game was over at that point. Rush’s multi-possession comeback was not expected by even the most optimistic Ravens fans, as the Chiefs were systematically destroying the Ravens defense. Kansas City scored 10 more points, pushing the score up to 37-13. Both sides were now using backup players.

The Ravens’ Justice Hill scored a 71-yard touchdown late in the game, his longest score of the career. But there was little consolation for the team. Baltimore lost in almost every aspect of the game for the second time in a week. The highly-paid roster and coaching staff were humiliated by the loss.

With the loss, the Ravens drop to 1-3 and are tied with the Cleveland Browns in last place of the AFC North. Next Sunday, they will play the 1-3 Texans at home.
