Ravens lose practice squad player to Panthers; bring back Malik Hamm

The Ravens made several changes to the practice squad on Tuesday, as they prepare for their Week 3 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Baltimore has brought back Baltimore-native Malik Hamm, an outside linebacker. Hamm, who was initially on the Ravens’ practice squad, was released by the team last week after the Ravens signed Cornelius Johnson as a wide receiver.

Hamm, a product of Baltimore City College & Lafayette University, made Baltimore’s roster in 2023 as an undrafted rookie. Hamm’s first two seasons were cut short by knee injuries. He returned to the field this summer after a successful preseason.

Hamm could be elevated to outside linebacker if he is. The veteran Kyle Van Noy was forced to leave Sunday’s match against the Cleveland Browns due to a hamstring problem. Head Coach John Harbaugh did not give a timetable on when Van Noy would return. David Ojabo could be called upon to play if Van Noy is unable to.

J.T., a veteran safety and Special Teams ace, has been placed on the practice squad injured list. Gray was placed on the practice team injured list. Gray, a 2021 Pro Bowler in special teams, has not yet seen action with the Ravens since signing on to the practice team on September 3.

Carolina Panthers added center Nick Samac to their 53-man roster after signing him on Tuesday. On Sunday, the Panthers suffered major injuries to starting center Austin Corbett as well as starting guard Robert Hunt.
