On Monday, the mood in Baltimore was decidedly gloomy when Lamar Jackson did not attend the Ravens first practice of the new week. Since then, reports have suggested that Jackson may not be able to play in Week 8, as the Ravens hoped.
A ray of light emerged Wednesday, when the MVP returned to practice (albeit in a limited capacity). John Harbaugh declined to give any details about Jackson’s condition.
Harbaugh did not say whether Tyler Huntley or Cooper Rush would be the backup quarterback in the event that Jackson is unable to play. Rush replaced Jackson in Week 4, and was the Ravens’ starter for the next two games. Huntley took his place in the second half against the Rams in Week 6. This quarterback’s rushing abilities and skillset are more similar to Jackson’s. He gave the Ravens offense a boost with his ability to run. Jeff Zrebice stated on the Ravens Collective Podcast last week, that Huntley’s past and relationships within the locker room may also play a role in his playing time.
