

People often use the phrase “For better or for worse” when they take their marriage vows.
In sports, as in other areas of life, unions do not always work out that way.
Tuesday, Steve Bisciotti, the Ravens’ owner and general manager Eric DeCosta are scheduled to hold a joint press conference following the departure of Head Coach John Harbaugh. The Ravens’ fans will be paying attention to each word said.
The Ravens do not often change their head coach. This reflects an organization which has made the playoffs twelve times under Harbaugh and won the Super Bowl in 2012, proving its stability. The Ravens are a model franchise because they consistently make the playoffs in an NFL designed to be parity.
In their 30 year history, they’ve had 3 coaches. Some people have said that the NFL stands for “Not for Long.” For Ravens head coach, this has never been true, which is part of the reason why the job opportunity is so appealing to many coaches.
