Ravens final injury report rules out four Lions players

The Ravens have ruled out Nnamdia Madubuike, their star defensive tackle for their Week 3 game against the Lions.

The neck injury to Madubuike has become a major issue for Baltimore’s defence. He was the anchor of the pass rush during the first two games. But he’ll be out for Monday night, and possibly longer. John Harbaugh refused to provide any specifics about the injury on Saturday. He said that Madubuike had “some symptoms” after Sunday’s game.

explained that there was nothing specific about the game in which we saw the symptoms. But they are testing now.

Neck injuries are notoriously difficult to diagnose, and the Ravens lack of clarity is a sign of bad things to come, not only for this week but also for the remainder of the season. Harbaugh stated that he did not know enough about a possible injured reserve placement to make a comment.

Baltimore’s defense will be put to the test on Monday night. Travis Jones has had a good start, and he will be expected to perform well in his contract year. However, without Madubuike to flank him, he will face more double teams. Aeneas peebles, a rookie, should see more opportunities to rush the passer. Brent Urban is likely to be promoted from the practice squad and will take some snaps on early downs.

The Ravens do have depth with players such as Urban, Broderick Washington and John Jenkins. However, none of them can match Madubuike’s impact on the field. Eric DeCosta will be looking to trade for defensive tackles if he is out of action for a long time.

The Ravens have listed all the injuries they’ve sustained in Week 3.

  • TE Isaiah Likely

  • DT Nnamdi Madubuike (neck)

  • FB Patrick Ricard, (calf)

  • OLB Kyle Van Noy (hamstring)

Rasheen Ali and Marlon Hushprey (both concussions) participated in full practice on both Friday and Saturday. Nate Wiggins, who had been suffering from a groin injury, was also able to participate fully on Saturday. The four players are not listed as injured for the game on Monday night.

Humphrey’s and Wiggins’ presence on the field is crucial against the Lions’ dangerous passing game. This is especially true now that Madubuike has been lost, which has weakened the Lions pass rush.

Harbaugh confirmed that Ali’s presence would mean another healthy scratch for Keaton Mitchell. He said that Ali’s special teams work “probably tilts that scale right now.” Harbaugh expressed his desire to have Mitchell play, but it would require a shift in how the team approaches their game-day roster. How will the numbers improve when Likely or Ricard return to health?

It’s not surprising that Likely needed more than a week to prepare for a game. However, he can ramp up his training next week to be ready to take on the Chiefs.

Four Lions players were deemed questionable. This is the final injury report from Monday Night Football.

  • EDGE Marcus Davenport – Chest

QUESTIONABLE

  • Jack Campbell, LB (ankle),

  • LT Taylor Decker

  • S Kerby (knees)

  • CB D.J. Reed (knee).

Davenport’s loss could be crucial for the Lions, who lack depth in their edge rushers behind Davenport or Aidan Hutchinson. It is still possible for Hutchinson to be a threat to either tackle. However, the Ravens can devote more resources in order to stop him during the pass rush. Baltimore can also gain easy yards by running behind Ronnie Stanley if Hutchinson lines up on the left side.

Campbell’s full participation on the field indicates that he is going to play. Joseph and Reed have been practicing all week. This bodes well for the availability of both players on Monday.

Decker’s future could be either positive or negative. Decker’s participation went from 100% on Friday to DNP, which could be a sign of a setback. The Lions may have wanted to give the veteran left tackle a day extra of rest knowing that it was more important. It seems that he is the only real game-time choice for either team.
