Ravens extend contract with Travis Jones for three years

The Ravens have secured their future by signing dominant nose tackle Travis Jones on a contract extension for three years.

Jones, 26, had just completed his rookie contract. He would have been a top free agent in the class of 2026 .

Eric DeCosta, General Manager of the team, stated that “Big Trav” is an ascending athlete and it is exciting to have him continue in our middle defense.

According to ESPN Adam Schefter it is a $40.5-million extension. The Ravens signed the extension just one week after signing an agreement with veteran tight-end Mark Andrews.

Jones has made 34 tackles this season and 1.5 sacks. His six tackles-for-loss are his career high, and his five quarterback hit are also tied.

According to Pro Football Focus, among full-time starters he has the 13 highest graded interior defensive linesman in the NFL.

Jones’ contribution to the Ravens’ defense is difficult to quantify. Jones has been heavily relied upon, as he played 67% of Ravens defensive snaps in this season. Jones is a great run defense player, but Baltimore uses him to pass rush as well. This is a rare skill for a nose guard.

Jones is a special player, as any Ravens defensive or offensive lineman will tell you. Dennis Johnson, Ravens’ defensive line coach, said this summer: “I expect Travis Jones to be the most talented player on the team whenever he is on the field.”

Jones has been able to play through knee and ankle injuries in each of the last two seasons. Jones has also been one the Ravens hardest workers in offseason. In his four seasons, he’s had 136 tackles and 5 sacks. His future looks even better.
