The Ravens have elevated Amani Oruwariye and veteran wide receiver Keith Kirkwood from the practice squad to play in Sunday’s AFC North championship game at Pittsburgh.
Kirkwood will play his first game this season after spending the last year on the practice team.
Last year, the 6-foot-3 210-pound wide receiver was elevated to play in the regular-season finale with Steelers. However, he did not see any snaps. He could play his first Ravens game in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, said that wide receiver Rashod bateman missed all practices this week because he had a “very serious” flu. Harbaugh believes that Bateman should be fine by Sunday night.
DeAndre Hopkins, Devontez Walker or Tylan Wallace would be the likely starters if he couldn’t. Kirkwood, a large-bodied receiver with a sure-handed grip, could be added to the team’s rotation.
Oruwariye has played in just one other game, the Ravens win against the New York Jets on November 29th. He had 12 snaps on special teams but only one defensive snap.
Harbaugh expects him to recover in time for this huge rivalry match. Ravens cornerback Marlon Hmphrey will also be questionable due to illness.
