Ravens elevate veteran cornerback and rookie linebacker from practice squad

The Ravens have promoted veteran defensive back Amani oruwariye from the practice squad to play Sunday against the New York Jets.

Oruwariye can help Keyon Martin, who has been ruled out due to a rib fracture. Martin, who made 3 special teams tackles last week in Cleveland, takes over for Jay Higgins IV, a fellow undrafted rookie.

Oruwariye will play his first game of the season on Sunday after being signed by the Ravens on October 1. Oruwariye played 61 games in seven years with the Lions. He also started 40 of those games.

He had an outstanding 2021 season at Detroit, where he played 14 games with six interceptions.

Carl Lawson has not yet been elevated by the Ravens, despite his two-year stint with the Jets from 2022 to 23.
