Ravens’ devastating loss was a’microcosm of their misfortune this season’

Pundits question the use of Henry in Fourth Quarter

Henry and Flowers had otherwise outstanding performances. It’s a pity that they lost fumbles. Henry ran 128 yards with two touchdowns in 18 carries (7.4 yards per carry), while Flowers had seven receptions for 84 yard and an 18-yard touchdown.

Henry’s effectiveness raised questions about why was not present on the field during the Ravens last two drives. This was especially true for the Ravens first drive, which was when they had a three point lead with nine minutes left. Henry’s last carry was a two-yard touchdown run that gave the Ravens a 11-point advantage.

Josh Tolentino, The Baltimore Sun: “Those final 12 and 50 second could define Baltimore’s disappointing season.” The Ravens gave away a game that they could have won. It was like giving an early Christmas present to the visiting team. Henry, let’s face it, should have been rushing the clock instead of sitting on the bench. John Harbaugh acknowledged at least the season-defying error.”

Zrebiec After watching their lead be cut to three by the 9:01 mark the Ravens did not even force the Patriots have to stop Henry, who is likely to make the first ballot of the Hall of Fame. Keaton Mitchel ran twice and Huntley once, but the Ravens had to punt it back to the Patriots after just five minutes. Harbaugh stated that the Ravens were never in possession of the ball for long enough to allow Henry to return.

Bo Smolka, Press Box: Mitchell has shown flashes at times this season. He is a good change of pace to Henry. Derrick Henry, one of NFL’s most durable and prolific backs, is a great choice to have on your team. This is especially true if you are playing the backup quarterback. The Patriots were unable to stop him throughout the game. Henry was’ready’ for Mitchell’s drive to begin. This should not matter. Henry is the money-back, blue-chip quarterback, and the drive was an absolute must-have with the season at stake. The misuse of personnel in this situation shows a lack for game sense, whether it was from the Head Coach John Harbaugh or Offensive Co-ordinator Todd Monken. It’s not logical for Derrick Henry, who is a player in this position, to just stand by and watch.

Goon : “Despite being a good change-of pace back, Mitchell is not big enough to be an excellent closer. Henry’s 6-foot-2 frame and 250-pound weight make him the perfect punishing bruiser. He can pound an entire defense to submission. The Ravens refused to use Henry for the final blow, despite the fact that he had already completed the majority of the work with 18 carries totaling 128 yards. The New England defense must have breathed a huge sigh as Henry stood at the sideline.
