Ravens Defense aims to regain swag

Todd Monken wants to get Ravens offense out of its “Rut”

The Ravens have steadily decreased their point production during their three-game losing run, from 30 in Week 3 to 20 in Week 4 to 10 in their loss to Houston Texans.

Todd Monken hopes to stop this trend when Baltimore plays the Los Angeles Rams in a Sunday game. Lamar Jackson, who has a hamstring injury, did not participate in Thursday’s practice and looks to be missing his second consecutive game. However the Ravens are hoping to perform better than they did last week.

Monken, when asked about the performance of the offensive line, said: “We’re in a bit of a rut.” It’s not only the O-line. It’s all of us. We need to coach better. We have to plan it better, name it better and execute it better. Everyone is a part, just as we are all a member when things go well. It’s up to us, and me in particular, to take responsibility when things aren’t going well. “How can we do it during the week so that it appears on Sunday?”

Baltimore’s inability of maintaining drives has placed more pressure on the defense. The NFL has seen the most points conceded by the team. Monken wants Baltimore’s offense to not only score more points but also run more plays.

Baltimore averages just 50 offensive plays per game. Last season, Ravens averaged 62.3 offensive plays per game.

Monken stated, “We’re better than this. We can’t leave the field so quickly. “We’re much better than that.” We are better coaches and better players. “We just need to show it.”

Baltimore has struggled to overcome an ineffective rushing offense. Derrick Henry, who led the NFL in rushing yards last season is ranked 17 th going into Week 6. Henry, as a leader of the Ravens team, has spent some of this week encouraging teammates that their rushing attack is going to click.

“Don’t allow the past to dictate your future.” Henry told us to “stay focused”. We can make this season work.
