Ravens Confident Their Offense Is Built for Cold Weather in Buffalo

As the Baltimore Ravens prepare for their Divisional Round clash against the Buffalo Bills in frigid Orchard Park, All-Pro fullback Patrick Ricard and the Ravens’ coaching staff are confident that their offense is perfectly suited for the conditions. With the dynamic duo of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry leading the way, Baltimore believes it can thrive in any environment.

Patrick Ricard: “This Is the Best Offense I’ve Been On”

Ricard, in his eighth season with Baltimore, praised the offense’s adaptability and balance under Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken.

“This is the best combination of running and passing team that I’ve ever been on,” Ricard said. “The stats show it. Then you have Monken with his schemes, how he uses motion and shifts to create advantages. Our offensive line is moving guys off the ball. We can do a little bit of everything.”

The Ravens’ ability to adjust from game to game—and even series to series—has been critical to their success. Ricard emphasized the challenge defenders face when trying to contain both Jackson and Henry:

“When you go somewhere with Derrick and Lamar, it can be a long day for any defense.”

Success Against Buffalo in Week 4

Baltimore dismantled Buffalo in a 35-10 win earlier this season, with Henry rushing for 199 yards and Jackson accounting for three total touchdowns. However, the Bills were missing key defensive players, including linebackers Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard, as well as nickel corner Taron Johnson—all of whom will be active for Sunday’s rematch.

The Bills’ Perspective

Buffalo Head Coach Sean McDermott acknowledged the unique challenge posed by Baltimore’s offense.

“This is a unique offense in terms of their production and how explosive they are,” McDermott said. “It’s a great combination unlike any I’ve seen with Lamar and Derrick Henry. Then you add the passing game and the scrambles. I think Coach Monken does a phenomenal job of putting those guys in position.”

While Buffalo is unbeaten at home this season (9-0), McDermott stressed the difficulty of preparing for an offense as diverse and explosive as Baltimore’s.

Frigid Weather and a Punishing Ground Game

With cold temperatures expected at Highmark Stadium, the Ravens’ ability to run the ball effectively could give them a significant edge. The combination of Jackson’s mobility and Henry’s power makes Baltimore’s ground attack one of the most punishing in the NFL—an asset in frosty conditions where controlling the clock and limiting mistakes become even more critical.

Final Thoughts

Baltimore’s confidence in their offense stems from a season of dominating performances and an identity rooted in adaptability. While the Bills present a tougher challenge with their defense at full strength, the Ravens believe their balanced attack is built to succeed no matter the conditions.
