Baltimore Ravens defensive end Travis Jones returned to the practice field on Thursday.
Jones’ health is vital for Baltimore’s defense, as Nnamdi madubuike will be out indefinitely. In Week 3, he struggled as the Lions double-teamed him to try and take him out. The plan worked well, but the rest of Baltimore’s front seven failed to step up without Madubuike.
Jones will face a similar approach if he is selected to play in Kansas City on Sunday. The Chiefs’ offensive linemen Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith and their injured knees may make it difficult for Jones to play. Jones was able to play through an ankle injury last year. It did not affect his performance, but it did reduce it. It’s important that Jones is on the field, even if he isn’t 100%.
Here is the Ravens full injury report for Thursday (* indicates a change in status).
Stanley is still out. This would be a major loss for Baltimore’s offense line. The team may be resting him due to his age and history of injuries, but he will need to participate in practice on Friday if he is to play on Sunday.
In the event that Stanley is unable to travel, the Ravens will turn to Joe Noteboom, a veteran swing tackle who has protected Lamar Jackson from his blind side. Former Ram Joe Noteboom is an experienced and athletic blocker, but he hasn’t shown enough consistency to be a starter for a long time. This is not good news for Sunday’s game, since Chiefs defensive lineman George Karlaftis, according to Pro Football Focus, has been lining up over the left guard in both of the Chiefs last two games. He is tied for ninth place among edge rushers with 15 pressures this year. He also has two sacks, five tackles for losses, and two catches.
Washington’s absence is increasing and he is likely to miss Sunday’s match. Brent Urban will have to be promoted from the Ravens’ practice squad. Will be interesting to see whether the Ravens will give C.J. After flashing during the preseason, the Ravens could give Okoye a shot to make his NFL debut or they can go with one of their more experienced DTs that were signed to the practice team this week.
Mike Danna, the Chiefs’ defensive end, was upgraded to full participation from his Wednesday injury report. All of the Chiefs’ injured players were able to participate in full practices except cornerback Kristian fulton who is still limited.
