After he tried out for the Ravens last Friday, former first-rounder Kenyon Green was signed to the practice squad by Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday morning.
Green, a 24-year old guard from Texas A&M, played at multiple positions during his two-year college career. He started all his games. Green was drafted by the Houston Texans in 2022. He played in 23 games between 2022 and 2024, but missed the entire 2023 season because of a shoulder injury. In the off-season, he was traded to Philadelphia Eagles but failed to make their roster of 53 players. He was kept on the practice team and shuffled from the PS to the active roster during the first few weeks.
He’s been added to the Ravens practice squad, in an attempt to find that talent which made him a top-round selection. PFF has rated him as one of the NFL’s lowest-rated guards. In both of his seasons, he’s received an overall grade below 40.0. Green’s run blocking was highly praised during his time at Texas A&M. He also had a reputation for being able to move bodies with ease. Green played tackle and guard in college but was considered a guard prospect upon graduation despite his known pass blocking issues. He has played only as a left-guard in the NFL.
Green’s career performance means he will not be competing for a game-day position right away. This is despite the desire of Baltimore fans to change guards. It’s possible that Green will be on the Ravens roster this season, but it is unlikely. The Ravens did not retain Garrett Dellinger as a practice squad player and Nick Samac was lost to the Carolina Panthers. Both guards were options. Green is a potential development option for next season.
