The Texans averaged 16 points per game when they entered the game. The Texans played a good game against Baltimore’s injured and struggling defense.
Houston scored in its first eight possessions. The Texans punted only once in the fourth quarter, when their backup quarterback came into the game. Texans starting quarterback C.J. Stroud completed 23 out of 27 passes and threw 4 touchdowns.
The best news for the defense today was that cornerback Nate Wiggins cleared the concussion test. Baltimore did not suffer any (noticeable injuries).
The Ravens’ offense slowed to a crawl without Jackson at the center. The unit was never able to get a rushing attack going, which would have been needed to boost the team. Derrick Henry had just eight yards in six carries on the Ravens first two drives. He finished with only 33 yards from 15 rushes.
Cooper Rush’s first Raven start was made more difficult by penalties. Rush had a great start, but three interceptions during the second half ended any hopes of a comeback.
Priority number one is to get the rushing offense on track. Jackson being out of the lineup, this is a priority.
Henry stated, “It just doesn’t seem to be working right now.” “We need to play better.” When things are going wrong, it’s easy for people to point fingers. “We haven’t played well [and] we haven’t been a great football team. But you just need to get back to work.”
