The Ravens were considered a Super Bowl favourite when they began this season. The Ravens’ odds of making the playoffs with two games left are below 10 percent.
Baltimore’s (7-8) record could be the first to finish in the red since 2021, and only the second time under John Harbaugh.
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky stated that the Ravens were “the most disappointing NFL team this season” because of the high expectations.
Dan Orlovsky, of ESPN, said this on “Get up.”
It’s a fascinating take, considering that the Ravens still have to fight for playoff entry despite the fact that the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs were already eliminated.
The only way that the Ravens will make the playoffs this year is if the Ravens win at Green Bay, and the Steelers lose to Cleveland on Sunday. Baltimore would then have to win the final game of the season in Pittsburgh.
Childs Walker of The Baltimore Banner doesn’t believe the Ravens would be able to make it far in the playoffs, even if everything happened.
Walker wrote: “Nothing about the Ravens record – they are not particularly efficient on offense and defense, they have mostly defeated losing teams but rarely decisively – suggests that they are some slumbering titan.” Walker wrote: “Their mediocrity contrasts with the powerhouse team we saw last year, and it is difficult to give up the idea that this team still lives in the previous one.”
NFL.com’s Jeffrichadiha expressed a similar view. She was one of many pundits to pick the Ravens as the Super Bowl winner in the preseason.
Chadiha wrote: “Baltimore spent the entire season trying make up for two major setbacks. The first was a shocking start of 1-5 and the second, all the health problems that have plagued Lamar Jackson.” It’s time for the Ravens to accept that this was not their year.
Harbaugh didn’t need to say that the Ravens were not conceding anything after their loss to the New England Patriots, but he said it anyhow Sunday night.
Harbaugh stated, “I’m confident we’ll fight because we’ve been doing it all year.” “We have been in difficult circumstances for the entire year. It has been a long year. We’ve fought in every game.”
